1963 Press Photo Faith 7 spaceship lifted from Pacific to Kearsarge carrier

Astronaut Gordon Cooper's spaceship Faith 7 is lifted from the Pacific aboard the carrier Kearsarge yesterday after its recovery at the predicted impact point southeast of Midway Island. Cooper, who completed 22 orbits of the earth in 34 hours, remained in the capsule until it was placed on deck. This is a United States Navy pool photo transmitted by radio from the carrier Kearsarge to Honolulu and replayed by telephone line to New York.
