1938 Press Photo Electric Shearing Sheep Four Minutes

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: ELECTRIC SHEARING. Twenty four hundred sheep, shipped to the Mississippi Valley stockyards here, are being sheared before being fattened for the summer market. The sheep are sheared with gasoline powered clippers, about four minutes being required to shear a lamb. With the old type hand clippers, it took a man a day to clip 25 sheep, now he can do in the same time.
