1980 Press Photo Arthur Jefferson Detroit Schools Super

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Caption: Arthur Jefferson: the schools' Mr. Cool. He'll cringe at the name but his calmness keeps the system floating. In 1980, after a millage increase was defeated, Jefferson said: "I might as well be optimistic today. Who knows what'll happen tomorrow?".
