Caption: Petain in Prison--This photo of Marshal Henri Philippe Petain, 95, accalimed as a French hero in World War I and accused of treason in World War II, was made in his prison cell at Ile d'Yeu in 1949 while he was serving a life sentence for treason. Petain died today on the island a month after his sentence was commuted.
