Caption: Deborah Stewart of UAW Local 22 was one of about 400 laid-off General Motors Corp. workers and supporters who called on the automaker to reinstate a second shift at its Detroit-Hamtramck plant during a demonstration at company headquarters in Detroit Friday. About 2,000 second shift workers were laid off indefinitely in February 1987.
