Samford University - The story of aviation came to life for a group of area teachers when they toured the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. recently. The trip was part of a graduate aerospace science workshop being taught at Samford University. Here, the teachers gather in front of a lunar module like those used in the manned moon landings. From left, front row, Edgar E. Dixon, Davis Middle School; Ann Black, Pittman Junior High; Greg Wilson, Bibb County Junior High; Luzadie S. Grant, Brighton School, and Dr. John T. Carter, professor of education at Samford. Standing from left are Jimmie Morrow, Jefferson County; Joe McGuire, Rutledge Junior High; Kit Taylor, Clay Elementary; Betsy Simpson, Hueytown Elementary, and Patty Pilkerton, St. Aloysius Diocese. Dr. Carter is coordinator of the annual workshop which is co-sponsored by Samford and the Alabama Wing of the Civil Air Patrol.
