Description
Reshuffle bill signed - Gov. John Patterson Thursday signed into law the first bill to reapportion the Alabama Legislature in 61 years. Passed in the current special legislative session, the bill is one of the state's answers to a federal court warning that unless the Legislature reshuffled its seats U. S. judges would do it. Watching the governor, from left, are Sen. Vaughan Hill Robison, Montgomery; Rep. Ira D. Pruitt, Sumter; House Speaker Virgis Ashworth; Rep. Homer Cornett, Russell; Sen. Douglas Webb, Escambia, and Rep. Joe Smith, Russell.
