This is an original press photo. In an effort to avert the coal crisis, representatives of the United Mine Workers conferred with Secretaries Robert Lamont of Commerce and William Doak of Labor, in Washington, D.C. This was a preliminary to decide whether operators and workers could get together, should President Hoover call a general conference on the coal industry as requested by John L.
